چکیده

It is well known that the viscosity of a liquid is a measure of its resistance to shear. Upon the introduction of small solid objects into a viscous medium, the internal motion of the liquid when caused to flow is made more complicated than it would be otherwise and the resistance to shear is thereby increased. Einstein (4) has derived the following formula relating the viscosity of a suspension of solid spheres (17) to the viscosity of the solvent (q,J and the fraction of the total volume occupied by the spheres ((2.

Study on Genetic Diversity of Terminal Fragment Sequence of Isolated Persian Tobacco Mosaic Virus

Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) is one of the devastating plant viruses in the world that infects more than 200 plant species. Movement protein plays a supportive role in the movement of other plant viruses, and viral coat protein is highly expressed in infected plants and affects replication and movements of TMV. In order to investigate genetic variation in the terminal fragment sequence in Iranian...

Viscosimetric Studies on the Tobacco Mosaic Virus Protein. I by Vernon L. Frampton

Bawden and Pirie (1) and Takahashi and Rawlins (2) observed that the tobacco mosaic virus protein (a mesomorphic protein isolated by Stanley (3) and which apparently is closely associated with the disease) has the property of showing streaming double refraction to a rather marked degree. The interpretation is that the particles are anisodimensional. A very important set of properties of colloid...

The multiplication of tobacco mosaic virus in the host tobacco plant.

One approach to the problem of virus multiplication has been to study the quantitative changes that nitrogenous substances undergo in tobacco plants during the formation of tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). According to the results of Martin, Balls, and McKinney (6), the total N and apparently the total protein of TMV-infected plants (on a fresh weight basis) do not differ significantly from those of...

Studies on the Aggregation Reactions and Basic Dye Binding of Tobacco Mosaic Virus

1. Aqueous solutions of tobacco mosaic virus were found to undergo a number of spontaneous changes on standing in the cold. The results of pH measurements, acid and base titrations, intrinsic viscosity determinations, studies on the irreversible binding of methylene blue with the virus, ultraviolet absorption, and the extent of nucleic acid splitting by heat denaturation indicated the occurrenc...
